May 2017 Bucket List

May 2017

Whoa whoa whoa! Hold the phone, and put down the biscuits I have just realised. Not only did I not do an April bucket list which would have contained Easter and chocolate goodness but I have yet to post a May one too. This is unacceptable and should be rectified immediately.

Quick round up of April.

If I did have an April to do list this is what it would have looked like.

  • Decorate for Easter. – We didn’t get as festive as I would have liked. I worked all Easter weekend and it really didn’t feel like Easter at all. The only decorating we had was an Easter plaque and a bunny bunting.
  • Have an Easter egg hunt – The kids loved their Easter egg hunt and I enjoy watching their little faces trying to find all the eggs.
  • Make Easter Bonnets. – We didn’t get round to making Easter bonnets this time round as I was working a lot during the holiday. But the kids didn’t mind.
  • Tidy the garden- We did tidy the garden and the lawn is soon to be laid. It will be ready in time for the summer holidays.

So here we go a tad late but better late than never

May 2017 bucket list

  • Start a skillshare course
  • plant some flowers
  • wash the windows
  • Have an alcoholic drink over the bank holiday! YEs really an alcoholic one.
  • kill some bloomin flies that keep entering my house!
  • create my first surface pattern design
  • finish the current book I am reading

What does your May look like?

March 2017 Bucket List

march 2017

March,March,March. Easter is just around the corner. Mother’s day is edging closer and BG1 turns 8.

This month yet again is set to be a busy month.

So how did we get on with our February 2017 bucket list.

February 2017 Bucket List

  • Home date night for valentines day. One marked off February list! The hubby bought me a silver rose that I could keep forever and shopping trip with my sister. I had instructions not to come home until I had bought something for myself. A bag, pair of shoes, underwear, and 3 tops later I arrived home to a home cooked 3 course meal. It was beautiful. Not bad going Hubby.
  • Go Cinema to watch 50 shades!!! Seen it. Loved it. Much better than the first.
  • Put down wood flooring in the hallway. We now have wood flooring in the hallway. YAY!!! But I didn’t do it. My dad came to rescue and put the flooring down for me.
  • Clean out small bedroom for BG2 to move into. I tidied the room and then LM went and messed it again. It needs painting and the she can move rooms.
  • Try something new (anything!) I was going to try felting this month as my try something new, but each month moves faster than the last and I don’t seem to get anything done.

What’s on our march 2017 bucket list

  • Celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary
  • Prepare for Easter
  • Celebrate mothers day
  • Try something new (2nd attempt)
  • Work our way through the February 2017 bucket list

Let’s not forget the year bucket list!

2017 bucket list

I have done a years bucket list in addition to my regular bucket list.

  • a night away with the hubby
  • girlie night at the cinema
  • date night We had a date night  in January and went to a Chinese restaurant. It was lovely. I love using chopsticks. The hubby can’t use them so I also got to make fun of him.
  • finish first draft of book
  • refurbish the bathroom
  • go ice skating
  • see a comedian
  • BG2 Christening
  • have a cocktail night
  • save enough money to move house
  • go on a family weekend away
  • take a trip to Boscastle
  • Finish the garden
  • Lose 2st
  • Organise the downstairs cupboard
  • Watch a theatre show
  • visit the zoo
  • see fireworks
  • try upcycling
  • sew something
  • read a new book every month

February 2017 Bucket List

february 2017 bucket list

It’s February people!!!! The month were love is in the air. At first I was gong to say wow January seemed to be like a very long month, but then I realised that I did nothing in January. Apart from work, sleep and eat. No wonder it dragged on.

How did we get on with…….

January 2017 bucket list

  • Buy the kids bunk bed & move LM & BG1 into the same room. I am a little in shock, we actually completed this one. We bought a lovely bunk bed and now BG1 & LM are sharing a room. Look out for a post on the bunk beds soon.
  • Move BG2 out of our bedroom and into a room of her own (not sure this will happen just yet I am quite attached to having her in our room.) This did not happen. The bunk beds took a while to arrive and we have yet to sort through the smaller bedroom for her to move in to. Not that I am complaining.
  • Lose 6lb’s. I haven’t weighed myself so I don’t know if this has happened. In all honesty I don’t feel like I have lost 6lb however I am eating a little bit healthier and have started Jillian Michaels kick boxing dvd. Which I swear she is trying to kill me every time I put it on!
  • Make a list of jobs that need completing around the house. oooo I am excited, this is another one I have done and it is a long list. Look out for an up to date To Do list soon.
  • Buy BG1’s Birthday Presents. January we are on a roll. All set and ready for BG1’s B’Day beginning of March.
  • That reminds me buy the mother in law a birthday present – she turns 50 in February. Ordered and on it’s way, good job too cos her b’day is this week.
  • Eat healthier. I have been eating a little bit healthier. I haven’t skipped breakfast and lunch and have eaten more fruit and veg but I think I could do better.
  • Get reading with the kids. BG1 has been reading her many books she got for Christmas, including starting the Harry Potter series. LM and I have been setting up our little routine before bed with a short book. We are currently making our way through his collection of the Large family he go for Christmas.

What’s on our….

February 2017 Bucket List

  • Home date night for valentines day.
  • Go Cinema to watch 50 shades!!!
  • Put down wood flooring in the hallway
  • Clean out small bedroom for BG2 to move into.
  • Try something new (anything!)

Let’s not forget the year bucket list!

2017 bucket list

I have been reading Donna’s blog What the red head for quite sometime now and I love the way she does her bucket lists. Making a list of things her and her family would like to do and achieve for that year. It means no time scale on any such thing and then once you have completed an item you cross it of the list. So I have done a years bucket list in addition to my regular bucket list.

  • a night away with the hubby
  • girlie night at the cinema
  • date night We had a date night  this month and went to a Chinese restaurant. It was lovely. I love using chopsticks. The hubby can’t use them so I also got to make fun of him.

November 2016 Bucket List

 November 2016 monthly bucket list

October flew by and I don’t think I was very productive at all. Since going back to work I have struggled to keep on top of household chores (which I hate doing on the best of days). It’s now the end of the month and we are getting closer and closer to Christmas. Not that I mind because I love Christmas. We are now in November 2016.

How did the October 2016 bucket list go?

  • Reach 200 instagram followers, I am currently at 130. Didn’t make 200 followers on instagram. Which doesn’t surprise me as I don’t post very often on there I am currently sat at 160 followers which is still over a 20% increase which I am happy with.
  • Reach 1500 Twitter followers – here’s to hoping. I didn’t reach 1500 followers either, but I was so close and have reached 1425 more than happy with that.
  • Continue to schedule tweets. I have sucked at scheduling this month. I have struggled getting a schedule together full stop since going back to work. I really need to work on this more.
  • Write a chapter to the novel I started writing again. I haven’t completed a new chapter, however I have regularly and have nearly finished my next chapter
  • Make a Christmas decoration on my sewing machine. The sewing machine has still been kept in it’s box.
  • Book the panto for Christmas. BG1 is not going to be happy with me if I don’t get this sorted, I am usually so organised when it comes to Christmas and the panto is usually booked by the end of August. Really should get it booked.

November 2016 bucket list

  • Reach 2000 twitter followers. It may be a push but I think I can do it.
  • Reach 250 likes on facebook. Maybe.
  • BOOK THE PANTO!!!
  • Make a Christmas decoration on the sewing machine.

Our top 10 Halloween movies – for families

Our top 10 halloween movies for families

Halloween is just around the corner. We love to sit in a dark living room and watch some of our favourite spooky movies on Halloween night. Here are some of our favourites.

Top 10 family Halloween movies

Realised in 1993 Hocus Pocus was a big favourite in my house with me and my sisters. A great Disney movie that i couldn’t wait to share with my own children. It didn’t dissapoint, they loved it just as much as i do and is a certainly our top Halloween movie. Three hundred years after the Sanderson sisters were sentenced to die in Salem, the three sisters are accidently brought back to cause mischief  and revenge on Halloween night. A boy – turned into a cat, a zombie , two teenagers and a young girl are the only ones that can try to stop them.

Another classic from my own childhood that I have introduced my children too, Casper the friendly ghost. Realised in 1995 the family film Casper is about a father and daughter who move into a haunted house in search of the fathers dead wife. They meet the ghost of a boy and his three mischievous uncles.

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, Mysterious and spooky, They’re altogether ooky, The Addams Family. Vic Mizzy

Realised in 1991, there wasn’t a child from the 80’s/90’s that didn’t know the lyrics to this spooky classic. A family of strange and unusual characters that have just as unusual traditions can make any other family look ‘normal’.

This film always creeped me out, but my kids love it. The adaptation of Roald Dahl’s  1990 book the witches was realised in 2005. The Witches are some of the most gruesome  I have ever seen and still creeps me out today. It’s a bout a large group of witches trying to turn children into mice.

The Little vampire was realised in 2007. Its about a boy who moves house and becomes best friends with a little vampire. They go on a hunt for an amulet which will break the vampire curse but they come across a vampire hunter threatening their search.

A recently new movie, and with the sequel also having been realised last year, this is our new family favourite Halloween movie. Count Dracula opens a hotel for monsters, to stay safe from humans. He tries to protect his daughter however she ends up falling in love with a human.

Realised in 2006 Monster house is about a house haunted by it’s owners dead wife. The house comes alive and things go missing but nobody believes D.J, so he must set out to prove he is telling the truth.

I love the Buddie movies, talking dogs in little outfits what’s not to love? Realised in 2011 the puppies are in a race against time to fight the evil hound and a warlock to save the world from their evil plans.

Coraline was realised in 2009. A girl walks through a secret door into an alternate world. But it goes wrong and she has to save her real parents from being lost forever.

Not just for the little ones, Winnie the pooh never gets old. Realised in 2005 it’s Lumpy’s first Halloween. Lumpy and Roo set out to catch a Gobloon before he can turn them into a jaggedy lantern.

October 2016 Bucket List

october 2016 monthly bucket list

October already. I’m sure I say it every month and in every post but seriously how did we get to October so quickly. I’m half tempted to write a template that goes along the lines of being shocked that we have reached a new month or a new year that I can copy and paste into each post.

September sucked for getting my bucket list done. In fact I have come to the conclusion that I suck at completing tasks. I’m great at making the bucket lists/to do list but suck at actually completing them.

Non the less I will continue to write a bucket list in the hope that I might actually get one finished one month.

So how did we get on with last months bucket list?

September 2016 bucket list round up

  • Continue scheduling posts, and tweets. I would like to grow my blog a little more each month. Actually I have done pretty okay with scheduling tweets. I even managed to reach 1000 twitter followers and get 100 likes on facebook which I was super excited about. I have fallen being with scheduling post however. I started back to work and getting back into the daily routine with the school runs it has pushed my post scheduling out of the window.
  • Get the turf laid in the garden – it’s a long shot but it may happen. I knew it was a long shot but it was worth a try. It didn’t happen and will probably now have to wait until the spring.
  • Write a short story. It has been a while since I have written one, maybe this month it will happen. I didn’t get a short story written however, I did manage to open up my story folder and did start to write some more on a previous story I started a year ago.
  • Practise on my sewing machine. I bought one at the beginning f the summer and have yet to use it properly. My sewing machine is still sat in his box and has only been removed once. With Christmas coming up I really want to make a few Christmas decorations with it.
  • Bake BG2 a birthday cake. Didn’t happen, I had work the weekend before her birthday which was on a Monday and also work that evening too.

Whats on the bucket list for October.

  • Reach 200 instagram followers, I am currently at 130.
  • Reach 1500 Twitter followers – here’s to hoping.
  • Continue to schedule tweets.
  • Write a chapter to the novel I started writing again.
  • Make a Christmas decoration on my sewing machine
  • Book the panto for christmas

Happy list 12

HAPPYLIST HAPPYGOMUMMY.CO.UK
A happy list is a place of positivity. When your feeling blue or under the whether you can make a happy list to cheer yourself up, to remind you of the happy times you have been through. I love reading these types of posts.

Let’s begin, with the things that make me most happy, the things throughout the week that have made me smile and the things I am grateful for and have loved.

My happy list 12

  • Reaching 1000 twitter followers. Honestly I wasn’t sure it would ever happen, it seemed to hover around 850/900 for so long. But I finally made it, that makes me really happy.

1000 twitter followers

  • Disney ornaments. I love collecting Disney ornaments. Many have gotten broken by the kids and cat but the few I have left I just love. I have added a few new ones to my collection and have a few more on my wish list.

disney

  • Nail wraps. So I found Jamberry nails recently. I was being sent a sample from a consultant but couldn’t wait to try nail wraps. I found some cheaper versions in a local beauty outlet which were beautiful. They didn’t last as long as Jamberry nail wraps but they were so pretty.

nail wraps i feel pretty

  • Dipping platters. It was my mums birthday this week, me and my sisters treated her to lunch and we couldn’t leave without finishing lunch with a milk chocolate dipping platter.

September 2016 bucket list

September 2016 bucket list

Where is this year going?

Man! Is it me or are these weeks going faster, the more into the year we get. It feels like only a couple of months ago those fireworks were going off and we were celebrating the New Year. It seems that the older we get and the older the kids get, the faster the year goes by.

We are now at the beginning of September 2016 and starting a new chapter in our lives. This month holds some big changes for our little family.

BG2 will be turning 1 this month. It doesn’t feel like a year ago I gave birth to her. You can read her birth story here. She has grown and changed every month, it won’t be long before she moves from being a baby to a little toddler. 🙁

With her first birthday coming up that also signals my return to work at the end of the month. I won’t lie, I am not looking forward to it, so many things have changed since I was last in work and I will practically be back to being a newbie again.

BG1 is moving into year 3. How did she get there? It doesn’t feel that long ago that she was a shy and quiet little girl in Nursery. Now she has dramatically come out of her shell and is turning into a loud and confident young girl.

And then there is LM he will be starting his reception year at school. This will be my biggest change, probably of the year. I will no longer have my little man for company 2 and a half days through the week. I sometimes find myself looking at him wandering where the time has gone. How did my little boy turn into such a handsome and kind little person. You can read about the things I have learnt about boys since he has come along here.

august bucket list round up

So how did I get on with Augusts bucket list. Let’s check out my August round up below.

  • Once again try and plan BG2’s christening. I suck! I still haven’t sorted out her christening, now we will more than likely end up having her christening in the rain!
  • Go on a date night with the Hubby. My birthday is coming up so this should finally happen this month. Yay we finally got on a date, it was amazing I had so much fun – you can read all about it here!
  • Continue scheduling posts. I want to continue to build and adjust a schedule to make blogging easier when I go back to work after maternity leave. This has been a little on and off but I have made a start – you can read more about my blogging organisation here!
  • Continue working on my social media presence and scheduling tweets. I have signed up for Hootsuite, now just need to work out how to use it effectively. I have been scheduling some tweets, but I need to do more. I also now have crowdfire too. I would say this one was a success.
  • Work through as many activities on my summer bucket list as possible. I like to be organised during the summer so put together a separate list just for the summer holidays. The summer has gone so fast, we didn’t get round to all the items on our summer bucket list. Below is the summer list chart – all the items in black are what we were able to complete.

summer bucket list

September 2016 bucket list

With so many new changes this month, I will be keeping this bucket list simple.

So what’s in store for September:

  • Continue scheduling posts, and tweets. I would like to grow my blog a little more each month.
  • Get the turf laid in the garden – it’s a long shot but it may happen.
  • Write a short story. It has been a while since I have written one, maybe this month it will happen.
  • Practise on my sewing machine. I bought one at the beginning f the summer and have yet to use it properly.
  • Bake BG2 a birthday cake.

My weekly Happy List 10

HAPPYLIST HAPPYGOMUMMY.CO.UK

A happy list is a place of positivity. When your feeling blue or under the whether you can make a happy list to cheer yourself up, to remind you of the happy times you have been through. I love reading these types of posts.

Let’s begin, with the things that make me most happy, the things throughout the week that have made me smile and the things I am grateful for and have loved.

My happy list 10

  • Baby girl has learned to clap. We have trying for a while now to get her to clap and this week she has finally done it. I love when they start to clap, it is so adorable. She’s had quite a few first’s and developments lately, you can read about them here.

  • Being told you look like you have lost weight. I don’t think I have, but then I don’t weigh myself very often. Non the less the hubby insists that there is less of me round the middle so I must have lost weight. Not eating chocolate everyday must be working.

  • Receiving blogging opportunities. This coming week I have my first collaborative post and a review post. I didn’t think it would be something I would get the chance to do for sometime yet, however I am super excited about it non the less.

  • Just desserts. We went out for dessert this week. We had promised to take the kids to a new café that opened in town. That was a year ago! We finally got around to going this week. They have been the talk of the town for there chocolate fondue platters. It did not disappoint, it also went so fast before I could get a picture of it for you guys.

  • The end of a work shift. This week I had my first couple of keep in touch evenings. I haven’t been looking forward to it at all, but when 9:15pm came around and it was time to head home made me very happy.

I just can’t get you out of my head – Top 10 Disney songs that get stuck in your head!

disney happygomummy

I am super excited about this post. It has been on my to do list since I started this blog, along with many more just like it. I am a huge Disney fan, I always have been. As I have gotten older my love for Disney has grown and evolved over the years. I know can appreciate the more adult humour and the meaning behind the stories, although let’s face it we all just want to be a beautiful princess in one of those dresses. One of the things that make Disney movies so special is the huge array of catchy songs throughout the movies. More often than not I will end up singing a Disney song by the end of the day (if I didn’t already wake up singing one!) Today I have put together a list of my top 10 of my favourite, catchy Disney songs that get stuck in my head, often. Continue reading
