What a fun weekend we had! It’s almost winter, the kids are back to school and that means one thing, bugs? The kind that makes you sick.
We were hit this weekend with a whole host of sickness bugs. Which couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time. We had a wedding this weekend, however it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been.
LM had diarrhoea which meant we couldn’t take him unless we wanted an unhappy accident to happen during the ceremony. Which was a shame because he was looking forward to dancing.
I also wasn’t feeling great, I had a headache and sore throat and that totally ruined the day for me. I don’t get sick very often and if I do it doesn’t usually stop me from functioning however I was struggling this time.
At work on Friday all I wanted to do was bang my head against the desk and sleep, don’t think that would have gone down well with the boss.
Saturday at the wedding I really did just want to sleep. We returned home at 3:30pm to prepare for the evening party. There was no way I was up for partying – not one bit, my head was ready to explode.
So me and LM spent the night snuggled on the sofa watching movies, while the Hubby and BG1 partied the night away at the wedding party. They didn’t get home until near eleven! I am sure my seven year old has a better social life than I do.
Sunday rolled in and we all felt a little worse, by the end of the evening I had changed BG1’s bed sheets three times as she had been sick on them. LM was sleeping in my bed, he had caught my cough and his breathing was a bit erratic. That meant the hubby was on the sofa.
I was up with at least one of the kids every hour through out the night and also ended up being sick myself. The joys of being a mum. All in all I had around an hour and a half sleep and I started Monday morning with an explosion in my brain.
All I can say is thank goodness for Nannies, my mum arrived at half eight Monday morning ready to take LM to the doctors while I stayed in bed. The hubby woke up ill on the sofa and that’s were he stayed the entire day.
Once my mum had taken LM to the docs she also took the baby home with her – she had been the only one not to have been overcome by illness yet – and all of BG2’s bed sheets that needed washing.
Me and LM spent the entire day in bed sleeping while BG1 and the hubby spent the day curled on the sofa watching movies.
When my mum returned to drop BG2 off she only needed a bottle and was ready for bed. Mum helped BG1 shower as she had sick in her hair, and made BG1’s bed. It isn’t very often that illness completely takes me out, but I am thankful that I have my mum that I can rely on to help where she can. Sometimes we all need a little help.
Today I feel almost 100%, BG1 is back to school and LM will be heading back tomorrow.
