May 2017 Bucket List

May 2017

Whoa whoa whoa! Hold the phone, and put down the biscuits I have just realised. Not only did I not do an April bucket list which would have contained Easter and chocolate goodness but I have yet to post a May one too. This is unacceptable and should be rectified immediately.

Quick round up of April.

If I did have an April to do list this is what it would have looked like.

  • Decorate for Easter. – We didn’t get as festive as I would have liked. I worked all Easter weekend and it really didn’t feel like Easter at all. The only decorating we had was an Easter plaque and a bunny bunting.
  • Have an Easter egg hunt – The kids loved their Easter egg hunt and I enjoy watching their little faces trying to find all the eggs.
  • Make Easter Bonnets. – We didn’t get round to making Easter bonnets this time round as I was working a lot during the holiday. But the kids didn’t mind.
  • Tidy the garden- We did tidy the garden and the lawn is soon to be laid. It will be ready in time for the summer holidays.

So here we go a tad late but better late than never

May 2017 bucket list

  • Start a skillshare course
  • plant some flowers
  • wash the windows
  • Have an alcoholic drink over the bank holiday! YEs really an alcoholic one.
  • kill some bloomin flies that keep entering my house!
  • create my first surface pattern design
  • finish the current book I am reading

What does your May look like?

March 2017 Bucket List

march 2017

March,March,March. Easter is just around the corner. Mother’s day is edging closer and BG1 turns 8.

This month yet again is set to be a busy month.

So how did we get on with our February 2017 bucket list.

February 2017 Bucket List

  • Home date night for valentines day. One marked off February list! The hubby bought me a silver rose that I could keep forever and shopping trip with my sister. I had instructions not to come home until I had bought something for myself. A bag, pair of shoes, underwear, and 3 tops later I arrived home to a home cooked 3 course meal. It was beautiful. Not bad going Hubby.
  • Go Cinema to watch 50 shades!!! Seen it. Loved it. Much better than the first.
  • Put down wood flooring in the hallway. We now have wood flooring in the hallway. YAY!!! But I didn’t do it. My dad came to rescue and put the flooring down for me.
  • Clean out small bedroom for BG2 to move into. I tidied the room and then LM went and messed it again. It needs painting and the she can move rooms.
  • Try something new (anything!) I was going to try felting this month as my try something new, but each month moves faster than the last and I don’t seem to get anything done.

What’s on our march 2017 bucket list

  • Celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary
  • Prepare for Easter
  • Celebrate mothers day
  • Try something new (2nd attempt)
  • Work our way through the February 2017 bucket list

Let’s not forget the year bucket list!

2017 bucket list

I have done a years bucket list in addition to my regular bucket list.

  • a night away with the hubby
  • girlie night at the cinema
  • date night We had a date night  in January and went to a Chinese restaurant. It was lovely. I love using chopsticks. The hubby can’t use them so I also got to make fun of him.
  • finish first draft of book
  • refurbish the bathroom
  • go ice skating
  • see a comedian
  • BG2 Christening
  • have a cocktail night
  • save enough money to move house
  • go on a family weekend away
  • take a trip to Boscastle
  • Finish the garden
  • Lose 2st
  • Organise the downstairs cupboard
  • Watch a theatre show
  • visit the zoo
  • see fireworks

February 2017 Bucket List

february 2017 bucket list

It’s February people!!!! The month were love is in the air. At first I was gong to say wow January seemed to be like a very long month, but then I realised that I did nothing in January. Apart from work, sleep and eat. No wonder it dragged on.

How did we get on with…….

January 2017 bucket list

  • Buy the kids bunk bed & move LM & BG1 into the same room. I am a little in shock, we actually completed this one. We bought a lovely bunk bed and now BG1 & LM are sharing a room. Look out for a post on the bunk beds soon.
  • Move BG2 out of our bedroom and into a room of her own (not sure this will happen just yet I am quite attached to having her in our room.) This did not happen. The bunk beds took a while to arrive and we have yet to sort through the smaller bedroom for her to move in to. Not that I am complaining.
  • Lose 6lb’s. I haven’t weighed myself so I don’t know if this has happened. In all honesty I don’t feel like I have lost 6lb however I am eating a little bit healthier and have started Jillian Michaels kick boxing dvd. Which I swear she is trying to kill me every time I put it on!
  • Make a list of jobs that need completing around the house. oooo I am excited, this is another one I have done and it is a long list. Look out for an up to date To Do list soon.
  • Buy BG1’s Birthday Presents. January we are on a roll. All set and ready for BG1’s B’Day beginning of March.
  • That reminds me buy the mother in law a birthday present – she turns 50 in February. Ordered and on it’s way, good job too cos her b’day is this week.
  • Eat healthier. I have been eating a little bit healthier. I haven’t skipped breakfast and lunch and have eaten more fruit and veg but I think I could do better.
  • Get reading with the kids. BG1 has been reading her many books she got for Christmas, including starting the Harry Potter series. LM and I have been setting up our little routine before bed with a short book. We are currently making our way through his collection of the Large family he go for Christmas.

What’s on our….

February 2017 Bucket List

  • Home date night for valentines day.
  • Go Cinema to watch 50 shades!!!
  • Put down wood flooring in the hallway
  • Clean out small bedroom for BG2 to move into.
  • Try something new (anything!)

Let’s not forget the year bucket list!

2017 bucket list

I have been reading Donna’s blog What the red head for quite sometime now and I love the way she does her bucket lists. Making a list of things her and her family would like to do and achieve for that year. It means no time scale on any such thing and then once you have completed an item you cross it of the list. So I have done a years bucket list in addition to my regular bucket list.

  • a night away with the hubby

January Bucket List 2017

January bucket list 2017

Its now 2017 and this year is going to be better than ever. I don’t know why but I just believe it will be. So December has been and gone in a blur. The house continues to fall apart, with now a toilet out of use. I really should remember to call the plumber. How did we get on with our December bucket list.

December 2016 bucket list round up

  • Make mince pie muffins. Last year I made around 100 muffins for family. I don’t need that many this year but I do have seven jars of mincemeat to use up. I now have six jars of mince meat left! I made one batch of mince pie muffins which were lovely. I only ate one as I made them for a friend but didn’t find the time o make anymore batches.
  • Wrap the Christmas presents before Christmas Eve. Each year the hubby and I would sit down on Christmas Eve wrapping the kids presents. Last year we were up until half past one wrapping! Not this year, we have an extra child to wrap for this year, I will be wrapping before Christmas Eve. I thought wrapping would never end. I managed to wrap most of the presents before Christmas eve. However I went seriously overboard on gifts this year so the playmobil we bought as a joint present went unwrapped and piled in a tower instead.
  • Bake Christmas biscuits & Mince pies with the kids. Didn’t happen, bought the ingredients but we never got round to baking.
  • Make Paper chains and Paper Christmas hats with the kids. Crafting didn’t go to plan either.
  • Go Walking around the town looking at Christmas lights. Nope!
  • Deliver Christmas gifts. We did this and it took so much longer than I thought it would. All day in fact.
  • Read Christmas stories to the kids. We had new Christmas books to re
  • Watch Christmas movies. This was easy, in fact we watched a Christmas movie everyday.
  • Have fun with the Scout Elves that stay at our house each year. (Yes we do Elf on the shelf) The elves go up to their mischief and left little gifts too.
  • Celebrate the Hubby’s 30th Birthday. Me and the hubby we out for a meal with his sister and her husband. We then all came back to ours for a few drinks and a game of pointless! I lost but was a good night.
  • Put the Christmas decorations up after LM’s Birthday. The decorations did indeed go up after his birthday. Even though we didn’t put up as many as we usually do.

January’s bucket list is going to be simple because let’s face it December is always so busy you really do need a month to get over it.

January 2017 bucket list

  • Buy the kids bunk bed & move LM & BG1 into the same room
  • Move BG2 out of our bedroom and into a room of her own (not sure this will happen just yet I am quite attached to having her in our room.)

November 2016 Bucket List

 November 2016 monthly bucket list

October flew by and I don’t think I was very productive at all. Since going back to work I have struggled to keep on top of household chores (which I hate doing on the best of days). It’s now the end of the month and we are getting closer and closer to Christmas. Not that I mind because I love Christmas. We are now in November 2016.

How did the October 2016 bucket list go?

  • Reach 200 instagram followers, I am currently at 130. Didn’t make 200 followers on instagram. Which doesn’t surprise me as I don’t post very often on there I am currently sat at 160 followers which is still over a 20% increase which I am happy with.
  • Reach 1500 Twitter followers – here’s to hoping. I didn’t reach 1500 followers either, but I was so close and have reached 1425 more than happy with that.
  • Continue to schedule tweets. I have sucked at scheduling this month. I have struggled getting a schedule together full stop since going back to work. I really need to work on this more.
  • Write a chapter to the novel I started writing again. I haven’t completed a new chapter, however I have regularly and have nearly finished my next chapter
  • Make a Christmas decoration on my sewing machine. The sewing machine has still been kept in it’s box.
  • Book the panto for Christmas. BG1 is not going to be happy with me if I don’t get this sorted, I am usually so organised when it comes to Christmas and the panto is usually booked by the end of August. Really should get it booked.

November 2016 bucket list

  • Reach 2000 twitter followers. It may be a push but I think I can do it.
  • Reach 250 likes on facebook. Maybe.
  • BOOK THE PANTO!!!
  • Make a Christmas decoration on the sewing machine.

October 2016 Bucket List

october 2016 monthly bucket list

October already. I’m sure I say it every month and in every post but seriously how did we get to October so quickly. I’m half tempted to write a template that goes along the lines of being shocked that we have reached a new month or a new year that I can copy and paste into each post.

September sucked for getting my bucket list done. In fact I have come to the conclusion that I suck at completing tasks. I’m great at making the bucket lists/to do list but suck at actually completing them.

Non the less I will continue to write a bucket list in the hope that I might actually get one finished one month.

So how did we get on with last months bucket list?

September 2016 bucket list round up

  • Continue scheduling posts, and tweets. I would like to grow my blog a little more each month. Actually I have done pretty okay with scheduling tweets. I even managed to reach 1000 twitter followers and get 100 likes on facebook which I was super excited about. I have fallen being with scheduling post however. I started back to work and getting back into the daily routine with the school runs it has pushed my post scheduling out of the window.
  • Get the turf laid in the garden – it’s a long shot but it may happen. I knew it was a long shot but it was worth a try. It didn’t happen and will probably now have to wait until the spring.
  • Write a short story. It has been a while since I have written one, maybe this month it will happen. I didn’t get a short story written however, I did manage to open up my story folder and did start to write some more on a previous story I started a year ago.
  • Practise on my sewing machine. I bought one at the beginning f the summer and have yet to use it properly. My sewing machine is still sat in his box and has only been removed once. With Christmas coming up I really want to make a few Christmas decorations with it.
  • Bake BG2 a birthday cake. Didn’t happen, I had work the weekend before her birthday which was on a Monday and also work that evening too.

Whats on the bucket list for October.

  • Reach 200 instagram followers, I am currently at 130.
  • Reach 1500 Twitter followers – here’s to hoping.
  • Continue to schedule tweets.
  • Write a chapter to the novel I started writing again.
  • Make a Christmas decoration on my sewing machine
  • Book the panto for christmas

September 2016 bucket list

September 2016 bucket list

Where is this year going?

Man! Is it me or are these weeks going faster, the more into the year we get. It feels like only a couple of months ago those fireworks were going off and we were celebrating the New Year. It seems that the older we get and the older the kids get, the faster the year goes by.

We are now at the beginning of September 2016 and starting a new chapter in our lives. This month holds some big changes for our little family.

BG2 will be turning 1 this month. It doesn’t feel like a year ago I gave birth to her. You can read her birth story here. She has grown and changed every month, it won’t be long before she moves from being a baby to a little toddler. 🙁

With her first birthday coming up that also signals my return to work at the end of the month. I won’t lie, I am not looking forward to it, so many things have changed since I was last in work and I will practically be back to being a newbie again.

BG1 is moving into year 3. How did she get there? It doesn’t feel that long ago that she was a shy and quiet little girl in Nursery. Now she has dramatically come out of her shell and is turning into a loud and confident young girl.

And then there is LM he will be starting his reception year at school. This will be my biggest change, probably of the year. I will no longer have my little man for company 2 and a half days through the week. I sometimes find myself looking at him wandering where the time has gone. How did my little boy turn into such a handsome and kind little person. You can read about the things I have learnt about boys since he has come along here.

august bucket list round up

So how did I get on with Augusts bucket list. Let’s check out my August round up below.

  • Once again try and plan BG2’s christening. I suck! I still haven’t sorted out her christening, now we will more than likely end up having her christening in the rain!
  • Go on a date night with the Hubby. My birthday is coming up so this should finally happen this month. Yay we finally got on a date, it was amazing I had so much fun – you can read all about it here!
  • Continue scheduling posts. I want to continue to build and adjust a schedule to make blogging easier when I go back to work after maternity leave. This has been a little on and off but I have made a start – you can read more about my blogging organisation here!
  • Continue working on my social media presence and scheduling tweets. I have signed up for Hootsuite, now just need to work out how to use it effectively. I have been scheduling some tweets, but I need to do more. I also now have crowdfire too. I would say this one was a success.
  • Work through as many activities on my summer bucket list as possible. I like to be organised during the summer so put together a separate list just for the summer holidays. The summer has gone so fast, we didn’t get round to all the items on our summer bucket list. Below is the summer list chart – all the items in black are what we were able to complete.

summer bucket list

September 2016 bucket list

With so many new changes this month, I will be keeping this bucket list simple.

So what’s in store for September:

  • Continue scheduling posts, and tweets. I would like to grow my blog a little more each month.
  • Get the turf laid in the garden – it’s a long shot but it may happen.
  • Write a short story. It has been a while since I have written one, maybe this month it will happen.
  • Practise on my sewing machine. I bought one at the beginning f the summer and have yet to use it properly.
  • Bake BG2 a birthday cake.

August bucket list

My monthly

Where did July go! This year seems to be flying by. Here we are in August? If last month is anything to go by it will be an even busier month. Not only is it now the school holidays but also my last full month of maternity leave.

So last months bucket list round up – How did my first monthly bucket list go:

1. Go on date night. It’s been a while since me and the hubby had a date night. The last time was out fifth wedding anniversary back in March. We used to try and have a date night at least once a month, even if it was just one of us cooking a 3 course meal at home. I want to try and fit this back into our routine. This didn’t really happen. I was so hoping for a date night however we just didn’t get chance. It is my birthday this month so will end up going out for a meal together then.

2. prepare for the summer holidays. The summer holidays are due to begin in a few weeks. The Hubby usually has time off during the summer but this year he hasn’t. I want to be prepared and make sure the kid have a fun packed summer. I have started my summer fun list and need to get it finished. I also need to start picking up a few crafting and outdoor supplies.I did complete this and got prepared for the summer yay! you can view my Summer bucket list here

3. Sort out bg2’s christening. I was planning on having BG2’s christening back in May however, that never happened. Ideally I would like it booked and sorted before she turns one in September. Anther fail this month. She is almost one, I have to pull my finger out and get it booked.

4. Finish reading my book. I started Emma Hart’s Tethered Bond ages ago, I am almost finished but haven’t read in a while, I want to finish the book so I can move on to Tied bond because I know the fifth book is out by the end of the month. These books are so addictive, I just haven’t had the time to get sucked into my own little world to finish them. I did get round to finishing Tethered Bond, so I have w moved nto Tied Bond.

5. Get back to exercising. I started exercising at home, with my mum and sister and started feeling better about myself. I had been feeling rubbish, fat and un healthy and needed to feel better about myself however, I started slipping back into my old ways. I went to get back in trying to fit exercise into my routine. Another fail. This will now have to wait until the kids go back to school. Although with the kids home I will be more active than usual.

6. start meal planning. I used to meal plan every week . It was a great way for me to keep on top of things and keep on a budget. As a lot of things in my life lately it has slipped from our routine. This month I am planning on writing my meal plans and posting them to help me step back into this routine. I have been meal planning! Hurray! It has been going well, I feel a lot more organised with a meal plan set.

7. make the most of the weekends. It won’t be long and I will be back to work after my maternity leave. When I head back to work I will be working every other weekend both Saturdays and Sundays. I want to make sure we make the most of the weekends we do have together. Whether that is crafting, baking, going for a walk or days out. We have been making the effort to go for a walk, craft or bake at the weekends, it has been going well.

8. make smoothies. Once again this is another habit that I have let slip. As well as getting back into the routine of exercise I am combining that with my green smoothies. Another fail. Along with the exercise this will now wait until the kids are back at school.

9. schedule. Before I go back to work from maternity leave I want to make a schedule that will help me plan my blog posts better as I won’t have as much time once I’m at work again. It is a slow process but I have been trying to schedule posts and get organised.

10. learn how to use my social media properly. I want to learn and make the most of my social media accounts. I have only had twitter a few weeks and want to learn the best way to utilise my accounts for the use of my blog.  Have been working on this and now have a few tweets scheduled. It is a slow process that I will be continuing to work on.

june bucket list

On to Augusts list:

  • Work through as many activities on my summer bucket list as possible. I like to be organised during the summer so put together a separate list just for the summer holidays.
  • Once again try and plan BG2’s christening.
  • Go on a date night with the Hubby. My birthday is coming up so this should finally happen this month.
  • Continue scheduling posts. I want to continue to build and adjust a schedule to make blogging easier when I go back to work after maternity leave.
  • Continue working on my social media presence and scheduling tweets. I have signed up for Hootsuite, now just need to work out how to use it effectively.

Back to School – Time to prepare for summer holidays

frog-830869_1920

So after the May bank holiday and half term the kids have finally gone back to school. That means just one thing! 6 weeks until summer holidays.

Last years summer holidays we received our keys to our new home. So the entire holiday was spent stripping wallpaper and painting, packing and moving.

The year before last we were living with my parents, we had no bills to pay so the kids had a great time going to theme parks, trips out, and movies.

This year we need to find a happy medium. Not so many expensive activities like 2014 but not so little activities like 2015.

It is very likely this year that it will be just me and the tree kids. Some years my hubby has the entire holiday off and some years he has none of the summer holiday off. This year is looking like he is not going to have much time off work. So I have to be realistic on how many trips and activities we can do. We will be calling upon nanny and the aunties for extra hands this summer holidays.

Its time to start list making, trolling newspapers and magazines to find local activity days we can go to. The local library is usually good for this. We are also lucky to have a craft shop in town that usually does a kids craft morning a few times a week in the summer.

So here is the start of our summer bucket list:

  1. Go to the cinema
  2. Have a teddy bears picnic in the woods
  3. Make homemade ice cream
  4. Have a water fight
  5. Go rock collecting
  6. Go to a farmers market
  7. Go out for breakfast
  8. Go bowling
  9. Go local amusement park
